One would have expected that by now—by hook or by crook—Obama’s ‘you didn’t build that’ remark would be history. Yet, the point-counterpoint over the remark continues. The president’s supporters argue, mostly stridently, as does Jonathan Alter at Bloomberg, that the whole kerfuffle is silly “because fair-minded observers—including neutral fact-checking referees—agree that the president’s words are shamelessly being taken out of context.”
When a pol says something that is context-dependent, he is already in trouble
