The U.S. unemployment rate, as measured by Gallup without seasonal adjustment, is 9.0% in mid-February, up from 8.6% for January. The mid-month reading normally reflects what the U.S. government reports for the entire month, and is up from 8.3% in mid-January.

Well.. thanks to the Kochbabies and their temper tantrum over not allowing them a free pipeline from Canada to China to line their pockets further with OUR exported gas and oil the economy is only going to get worse since they are helping to push gas to $5 a gallon.
Couple that with the fact there aren't enough jobs in America to EVER get below 8% again and... well... you get the idea. There are more people in this country than there could ever be jobs and if they reported unemployment properly (as they did 50 years ago) the number would be in the mid to upper teens. Underemployment is probably in the upper 20's now.
This is a failing of both parties, and further proof that Capitalists (Not Capitalism) are killing us a painful ugly death!

Sorry Don but all the repulicans have blocked was legislation that would have further killed our great nation. Obama is one and done.

Mike... I am very sorry you believe that. I won't argue or site facts, since it obviously won't matter. Have a great day and best well wishes to you and your family.

LOL! Now, THAT is funny!
More like, keep the checkbook on the upper shelf, where the kids can't reach it...

We haven't seen anything yet! Wait until gas prices rise, to where ever they top out...? I recall at $4.00/gal., many people unable to afford gas to get to work...
They are at 4.00 as of this morning in Phoenix.. Have been over 4.20 a gallon in California.
By the way, the refinery in Houston TX is at Half capacity, and the government is still blocking new refinery's as they have for the past 3 years in Elk Point N.D. and Yuma Arizona.
That is the reason your gasoline prices are going up.....
Obama strikes again...Look it up.

The pipeline will not help Americans, other than a few jobs while it is being constructed, and some to maintain it and clean up the ecological disasters (when it leaks), and some refining employment at Houston.
That oil is only being TRANSPORTED THROUGH America- it is not for Americans.
The pipeline will not help Americans,
I'd like to see proof of that. I don't think that assessment can be made until after the fact. You actually do qualify the statement:
other than a few jobs while it is being constructed,
If someone has no job, even a temporary job is better than nothing.
some to maintain it and clean up the ecological disasters (when it leaks), and some refining employment at Houston.
Again, if someone has not job, these sound like permanent positions that will remain because the pipeline will be built.
Even if the pipeline does not contribute one permanent job, it allows the US to have temporary employment while the line is being built.

and the government is still blocking new refinery's as they have for the past 3 years in Elk Point N.D. and Yuma Arizona.
I would think refineries very much need to be built, and that would employ many Americans.
Patriot: The pipeline would employ some of us, while it is being built- which would not be bad. What is bad is that the oil is not intended for Americans at all; it is part of America's #1 export: OIL. You are able to look it up. Meanwhile, the dangers to our lands, via leaks, may or may not outweigh the risks- do we want to run that through our nation, in order to serve some elites, while Americans end up no richer?????
I, myself, would forfeit the temporary job, in order to begin to bring things back around to putting the people first!
We need to be self sufficient in all we do.
Manufacturing is a great case in point.
If North Korea went to war with S.Korea... Those millions of broken down KIA's and Hyundai's that broke down would stay broken, same goes for the cell phones that you own from Samsung, Kyrocera, AT&T, VeriZon, and Sanyo.
Not to mention the Televisions and Computers we all have.
